What We’re Working On
In 2025, DBS is working towards the delivery of a series of online insight sessions, in collaborataion with our Founding Firm Members. These open invitation events serve to raise awareness of the charity and foster engagement within the profession. Later this year, we will be looking to launch our mentorship programme aimed at students working towards their LLB or Diploma in Professional Practice.
Create an Online Portal
Through sponsorship generated by our founding members we have been able to develop software that will enable us to interact with our community in a much better way ! Through UnionCloud we have created membership software that will enable us to post events, hear from our community, oversee our mentoring program and publish our career development opportunities.
Providing Advice & Advocacy
Our campaign regarding internet connectivity at Glasgow Sheriff Court received backing from the Law Society of Scotland. We continue to push for this resolution despite promises from the Scottish Courts and Tribunal Service. This prevents solicitors from being able to use assistive technology.
We welcome you to raise an issue to us either confidentially or through email. We will always uphold the confidentiality of any referrals unless agreed otherwise.
Raising Awareness
We have partnered with Autistic Flair to raise awareness of disability within the Scottish legal profession. Through our partnership we will grow our online community and raise the profile of disability inclusion in our profession.
Hosting Insight Events
To date we hosted several insight events discussing neurodiversity and disability within the workplace. We have co-hosted events with LawCare, SYLA, Law Society of Scotland and the Society of Advocates. We will continue to host insight events and have several planned with our founding members.
