Our Impact
Disabling Barriers Scotland is a Not for Profit Group with a focus on assisting aspiring solicitors with a disability to gain access to the legal sector, remove obstacles faced by lawyers with disabilities throughout their legal careers, and celebrate the successful careers of lawyers with disabilities.

Our Impact
Over the course of 2024, we achieved a momentous year for the charity and for raising the profile of disability inclusion in the Scottish Legal Profession.
Charitable Status
Our year started by gaining charitable status. This is an important milestone for our charity as it ensures that the community we build is one that is sustainable and that we are accountable for delivering on our charitable purposes. We partner with the WS Society Charity Governance Team to ensure that we have a strong structure in place. Through this we know that we will create positive change in the near and distant future.
Scottish Law Awards 2024
Tom and Fraser were delighted to attend the Scottish Legal Awards 2024, where we were awarded with Excellence in Diversity & Inclusion. This followed our campaign for improved internet connectivity at Glasgow Sheriff Court, which gained commendation from the Law Society of Scotland.
Partnership with Katie Forbes of Autistic Flair
We are partnering with Katie Forbes, founder of Autistic Flair. We first became aware of Katie’s fantastic work to promote the voices of disabled people through her TedX Talk and are delighted to now be working together to promote access to our profession. We are certain that through our partnership we can connect with students and people in our legal profession to continue to increase our membership numbers.
